HMMA nominee's "Journey" is a hit!
Current HMMA nominee and 2011 award recipient composer Austin Wintory worked on his score to the PlayStation3 game JOURNEY for three years, continuously writing and revising the entire time. When the game was released in March 2012, the reaction was explosive. It received dozens and dozens of perfect scores from critics, and the game quickly set video game music sales records. The soundtrack album leapt to the top of the iTunes charts all over the world, and ended up on the Billboard charts higher than any previous original video game score album.The final score features acclaimed cellist Tina Guo, singer Lisbeth Scott and the Macedonia Radio Symphonic Orchestra. Gamelitist.com wrote that Journey "should go down as one of the all-time greatest scores in a game," and in the months since release the music has been programmed for live performance by orchestras all over the world.
