2011 NOMINEES FOR MUSIC IN ALL VISUAL MEDIA

Hollywood, Calif.-October 17, 2011:  Nominations for the annual Hollywood Music In Media Awards (HMMA) were announced today including categories for Original Score and Song in Film, TV, Video Games, Commercial Ads and Movie Trailers and Outstanding Music Supervision.  The annual event will take place on November 17, 2011 in Hollywood, CA.

The eclectic list of nominees for Original ScoreFeature Film includes John Williams (War Horse), Alexandre Desplat (The Ides of March), John Powell (Rio), Thomas Newman (The Help), Larry Groupe (Straw Dogs), Patrick Doyle (Thor), Mychael Danna (Moneyball) and Mark Isham (Warrior)

Video game composer nominees include Michael McCann (Deus Ex:  Human Revolution), Sascha Dikiciyan & Cris Velasco (Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine), Inon Zur (Dragon Age 2), Gerard Marino (Spiderman: Edge of Time), Richard Jacques (James Bond 007: Blood Stone), Jason Graves (Dead Space 2) and Rod Abernethy, Will Loconto & Assaf Rinde (Rage)

Among the nominated music artists for Best Song-Film is The Zac Brown Band (”Knee Deep” from Dolphin Tale), Ok Go (“Here it Goes Again” from A Little Bit of Heaven), Linkin Park (“Iridescent” from Transformers: Dark of the Moon), Ronny Morris ("Windows" from A Family) and Jason Mraz (“Collapsible Plans” from The Big Fix)  “It's an honor to be recognized, thereby placing The Big Fix, an important documentary, in the same light as other Hollywood blockbusters” says Mraz. “It's a proud day for me as a songwriter and activist. Music is meant to enhance a film and this nomination makes that all the more true by inviting more eyes and ears to tune in to this unfortunate, yet fixable situation” Mraz concludes.

Additional visual media music categories include Original Score for TV, Video Game, Indie/Short/Documentary and Best Song in TV, Film, Video Game and Commercial Advertisement. The HMMA is the only music award show to recognize Outstanding Music Supervision in TV, film and movie trailers.  New categories added this year include Best Soundtrack Album, Best Music – Mobile Video Game and Best Score-Special Feature.

The HMMA’s Lifetime Achievement Award honor will be presented to legendary singer/songwriter SMOKEY ROBINSON.
